Every AI button first checks your Sprwt AI balance. If it is below $0.07 the You are out of AI Credits pop-up appears instead of running the request; if the balance runs out server-side you get "API Error: Not Enough Credits Please Refill". Buy credits at /admin/sprwtai/buy-credits (permission Buy AI Credits), or turn on the Auto Recharge toggle there and set When balance is below ($) and Refill amount so Sprwt tops up automatically from your card before a request. Other messages you may see: "Error while parsing the response, Please click the Generate Button Again" (the AI returned unusable text - simply retry) and "AI did not return usable steps. Try again."
