Refunds are only allowed on orders that were actually paid. An Unpaid order has no money to return — use Cancel Checkout instead. A Canceled order is closed and cannot be refunded either. Other refund errors you may see: Invalid Refund Method for the checkout selected! (trying to refund to a card on an order not paid by card — only digital wallet refunds are possible then), No Amount Left To Refund! (everything was already refunded through that method), and You need to refund the rest with balance! (the card portion is fully refunded; the remainder was paid by wallet and must go back to the wallet).
