When the recipe or meal generator links ingredients, it looks for an existing unit with the same name or short name; if none exists it creates one, expanding common abbreviations (oz → Ounce, lb → Pound, tbsp → Tablespoon, tsp → Teaspoon, clove → Clove, pinch → Pinch …) and otherwise using the AI's word as-is. Similarly, ingredient names that do not match any existing ingredient or sub-recipe are created as new ingredients with zero cost. Review Ingredients and Units after a generation, merge duplicates, and set prices so production cost is correct. The receipt import behaves the same way for units on new items.
