A rule is only used when its category is valid for the transaction type. For a Deposit the valid categories are those in the groups Cash and Bank, Money in Transit, Credit Card, Loan and Line of Credit, Due to You and Other Business Owners, every Expense group except Uncategorized Expense (shown as Refund for expense), all Income groups, Sales Taxes, the asset groups and the liability/equity groups. For a Withdrawal the same balance groups apply, plus all Expense groups including Uncategorized Expense, and the Income groups appear as Refund for income (Uncategorized Income excluded). In practice, a keyword rule on Purchases - Food & Beverage will only catch withdrawals (and deposits treated as expense refunds), and a rule on Online Sales will only catch deposits (or withdrawals treated as income refunds).
