Matched is how many times that rule has been applied to a transaction – either during bank import, during Re-categorize All, or (for learned rules) when you reviewed another transaction with the same description. Besides being informative, it is a tie-breaker: when several rules of the same kind match a description, the one with the higher Matched count is used. Rules are listed keyword rules first, then learned rules, each sorted by Matched count.
