Turning Is Active? off keeps the employee record but:

• the employee can no longer sign in on POS devices with their PIN;
• they are not emailed when a new open shift is posted (only active employees with the matching role are notified).

Inactive employees still appear in the Employees list, the Schedule employee list and the Timesheets summary. Use it for staff who are on leave or have left, since employees cannot be archived otherwise.
