Conversion re-expresses the needed quantity in a larger purchasing unit so it is easier to order: for example grams → kilograms, ounces → kilograms, millilitres → litres, teaspoons/tablespoons → cups, cups/pints/quarts → gallons. Which family is used depends on the Theme: Kitchen › System Unit Weight (Metric vs Imperial) setting (Kg or Lb). The conversion only recognises the standard short unit names (gr, oz, mls, l, tsp, tbsp, cup, pt, qt, gal…); an ingredient with a custom/unrecognised unit shows NO CONVERSION in that column instead of a converted number.
