What do "Include tracking parameters" and "Customize tracking parameters" do on a campaign?
On the Recipients step:
- Include tracking parameters – Links in this campaign will include additional tracking information, called UTM parameters. This allows source tracking within third-party reporting tools such as Google Analytics. When on, the campaign is sent with Google Analytics tagging enabled using the values from the Tracking page (dynamic values such as Campaign name or Email Subject are filled with this campaign's data). When off, no UTM tags are added.
- Customize tracking parameters (only visible once the first toggle is on) – When enabled, this campaign will use custom tracking parameters instead of the default tracking parameters. A table appears pre-filled with your defaults where you can change values, deactivate optional rows or Add a custom UTM Parameter just for this campaign. Required system parameters stay active.
For Drag and Drop Builder emails, any extra non-standard parameters are also appended directly onto each link's URL (not just passed to the provider's Google Analytics setting). On the campaign page you will see UTM tracking: Enabled or Disabled for this campaign.
