This depends on which kind of refund you did. A full refund to balance closes the confirmation dialog but does not automatically reload the page in the current version — refresh the browser and the status chip will show Total Refund, with a Refund Total line added to both the totals summary and the sidebar, and refunded items struck through. Per-item refunds do reload the page automatically once they succeed, so you shouldn't normally need to refresh for those. If an error was returned instead of a success, it's shown in a red box inside the refund dialog rather than applied silently.
