The default, Client has to Request to Pause/Unpause Subscription, turns the button into a request you must approve in admin, and Client cannot Pause/Unpause Subscription hides it. As with cancelling, the per-subscription Pause mode an admin sets on the subscription can further restrict an individual customer. When self-service pausing is allowed, the same permission also lets the customer switch their plan between auto-renew and manual renewal from the profile.
