When a meal recipe is saved with an empty barcode field (and the POS module is on), Sprwt generates one automatically using these settings:

• Meal Barcode Format – UPC-A (12-digit retail) (default) or Code 128 (alphanumeric). UPC-A produces a standard 12-digit retail barcode (prefix + 6-digit meal number + check digit). Code 128 produces a text barcode in the form `MEAL-000123`.
• UPC-A Barcode Prefix (5 digits, starts with 2 for in-store use) – default `20000`. The first five digits of every UPC-A barcode; retail convention reserves prefixes starting with 2 for in-store items, so keep the leading 2 unless you have registered company prefixes.

If a generated code already exists, Sprwt appends a suffix to keep it unique. Existing barcodes are not rewritten when you change these settings. Without the POS module, meals are saved with no barcode and these settings have no effect.
