A learned rule is created when you open an existing transaction, set a specific category and mark it Reviewed (either with the Mark as reviewed button in the edit window or the round check box in the list). Sprwt stores the transaction's full description as an exact-match learned rule for that category, or, if the same description is already learned for that category, increases its Matched count. It also tries to derive a shorter keyword rule from the description by taking the first one to three words and stopping at numbers or tokens such as ORDER, STORE, LOC, PMT, ACH, REF, TXN, INV, PO – for example SYSCO FOODS CORP #12345 HOUSTON TX produces the keyword SYSCO FOODS CORP, so future transactions from the same vendor with different order numbers match too. No keyword is created when the description cannot be shortened.
